KWEMTOO [Kwe m too (kaa nka) = Allow me to grow (to old age)]
Interpretation: The name from northwestern, riverine Igbo suggests a parent pleading with death to allow the son a full life before striking -- for death in Igbo is a king that must eventually be crowned. In most cases, the name giver has had a previous early-life visit from death; in which s/he pleads with death to delay another visit until the child has lived a full life.
Other names in this category include: Onwụegbunem, Onwuarugbulem, (Death, don’t kill me - yet) Ozoemene (may it not happen again–early death, that is) Ọnwụbiko, and Ọnwụkaa (Death, please! is); Onwubiko or Onwukaa (Death, please!); Onwuchekwe (Death, wait awhile!)
