I have seen it in so many eyes

And have felt the groan from their hearts

Every new dawn brings more sorrow and futility

For the day has come when they have lost hope

So today you talk to different specie

And whatever you do, remember, they are unlike you

So the promise of a better future is meaningless

Indeed progress and development are so alien to their world

It is not a partnership; had always been exploitation

And the language of peace is borne of justice and equity

For as long as your class and people think for us

Mayhem and violence is inevitable, incessant

Poverty is a religion, a culture to heaven or hell

And where you stand on either stand determines your fate

So you could be an armed robber or a terrorist and a rebel

But flip the coin and a patriot, a democrat and a hero emerges

History bears witness to the spin against the trodden

So there will always be statesmen and urchins and the lies that create them
